We sell a short list of powered garden tools, each one picked for a job that real gardens need doing.
The jobs that make gardening feel like hard work are the repetitive ones: cutting back the same hedge, edging the same lawn, clearing the same leaves. A good powered tool turns an afternoon of that into half an hour.
We lean towards battery tools because they remove the two things people hate most about the alternatives. There is no petrol to buy, mix and store, and no cable to drag across the lawn and around the flowerbeds. The one exception is our weed burner, which plugs in because it needs more power than a battery can sensibly give.
It goes outside and gets used. We look at the things that actually go wrong over a season: how long the battery really lasts, whether the trigger lock gets annoying, whether the head clogs on wet grass, and whether it is still comfortable to hold after twenty minutes.
Plenty of tools do not make it. The list stays short on purpose, because a short list is one we can actually stand behind.
Ordering a power tool you have never held is a leap of faith, and asking for handing over card details to a stranger only makes it a bigger one. So cash on delivery stays on the table, for anyone who would rather look first. You see the tool, check it at the door, and only then pay the courier. If it is not right, you hand it back and you have spent nothing.
It is slower and more expensive for us to run than a normal checkout. We still think it is the fairer way to buy something like this.
One figure, sent to you in writing, including VAT and delivery. There is no spending threshold for free delivery, because delivery is never charged separately, and no extra fee for paying in cash. The figure on the shelf is the amount the courier collects.
